Reading for Today - I Peter 2:11-12 - They may see your good deeds and glorify God
1 Peter 2:11-12 (ESV)
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
We should be careful what we partake in. Peter urged his readers to “abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” This was for their benefit as well as for those in the world. Peter also told his readers, to “keep [their] conduct among the Gentiles honorable”. The purpose for this was that the Gentiles would see their conduct and glorify God. We are to be lights in the world directing others to Christ. May we live our lives above reproach brining honor to God.
